Later, as Lexie changed into her pyjamas, she took her belt with the precious golden buckle and hung it carefully on the bedpost. She whispered goodnight to Grandma Levinia as she closed the leather-bound diary. Then she snuggled under her covers and closed her eyes contentedly, wondering what she and her sisters would dream of that night.
‘Goodnight,’ she whispered to Kit and Ruby.
But there was no response. They were already fast asleep. Kit could feel new dreams bubbling in both of them. She smiled. While they were in each other’s dreams, the triplets would always be together.
